Q: Can I install paint protection film myself?
A: Most paint protection manufacturers strongly recommend that film be installed by trained and certified installers. We have the training and experience to make sure you receive an installation that is fit perfectly to your vehicle. In addition, the warranties are only valid if the film is installed by a trained Certified Installer.
Q: Should I bring my vehicle washed on the day of my appointment?
A: Yes, it is best to bring your vehicle washed on the day of your appointment. This will allow us to fully inspect the paint of your vehicle and point out any areas of concern. A thorough wash, decontamination and paint prep will be done prior to work performed on your vehicle. Please read more about our preparation process on our new car prep page.
Q: How long will the installation take?
A: It depends on the amount of coverage our client has decided on for their vehicle. Once you have decided on the areas of protection for your vehicle we can then determine the installation time. So, we always recommend that you drop off your vehicle, regardless of the installation time. Doing so will allow us to take our time and be meticulous with your vehicle installation service.
Q: What is the warranty for paint protection film?
A: Warranty for PPF is 10 years from the purchase date. Warranty includes coverage against defects, yellowing, bubbling, and cracking. Please reference the warranty card provided to you upon your purchase for full warranty disclosure.
Q: Will paint protection diminish the appearance of my vehicle?
A: No, paint protection will help to protect your vehicle’s high impact areas and the paint from damage. As long as the vehicle and the film is properly maintained, you will enjoy it for it years.
Q: Can I use an automatic or manual car wash?
A: Yes, although we recommend and prefer a “safe” hand wash. An automatic “touchless” car wash is okay and does the work for you; however, please remember to wipe your vehicle with a clean microfiber towel to prevent build-up on your vehicle surfaces. When using a manual car wash please remember to always stay back at least 3 ft. with the wand of the pressure sprayer to prevent damage to your film. Never use the car wash brush or a automatic car wash that slaps your vehicle. Both have the potential to damage your vehicle and the film.
Q: Can I apply a sealant to the ppf?
A: Films are designed to be maintenance free; however, we always recommend using a spray sealant, like Gtechniq’s Ceramic Sealant, at the very least twice a year. Never use a product that contain dyes, abrasives, or rubbing compounds. Or for piece of mind, we recommend applying Gtechniq Halo, a flexible film coating, on top of the film after installation, which will help to ease maintenance and enhance the stain resistance.
Q: Can PPF be installed on a repainted vehicle?
A: Yes. As long as the paint has been allowed to fully cure according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, your body shop should be able to provide you with this information. For example, if the body shop chosen does not “bake” the paint, it is recommended to wait at least 30 to 60 after repaint to allow the paint properly gas and cure. If the body shop chosen “bakes” the paint, then it is recommend for the paint to gas for at least 2 weeks prior to installing paint protection film. If the paint is not allowed to cure properly we risk installing the paint protection too soon, which may result in gas bubbles under the clear bra or the new paint fusing to the adhesive, which will result in the paint being removed when it is time for the paint protection film to be removed.
Q: Will the environment damage vehicle wraps?
A: Yes. All films (just like paint) are degraded by prolonged exposure to sun and atmospheric pollutants, particularly on horizontal surfaces, such as, the hood, trunk lid, and roof. Whenever possible, store the vehicle in a garage or at least in a shaded area during the day. At night, protect the vehicle from dew or rain, which may contain acidic pollutants (a common problem in many large metropolitan areas). Always reference your maintenance and instruction sheet that we provided to you to ensure proper care of your vehicle wrap. Taking care of your vehicle wrap is what will ensure that the film can last up to it’s life expectancy. Always remove contaminant, i.e. bird droppings, bug stains, saps, artillery fungus, from the surface as quickly and safely as possible.
Q: Can you remove vehicle wraps?
A: Yes, definitely. It can be a bit of a tedious process to undertake depending on how long the vehicle has been wrapped. We do offer wrap removal services and would be happy to assist you. Contact us with more information about what type of wrap you would like to have removed. If we did not apply your wrap originally, removal fees vary based on the areas of wrap coverage, length of time the vehicle has been wrapped, and if adhesive primers or sealers were used.
